A LIFE IN MOTION.

Murthala Fancony Bravo de Oliveira is born on 17 February in Luanda. Angola would become more than a birthplace: it would remain a permanent source of music, language and identity.

While studying Fine Arts in South Africa, he takes the stage at The Flava nightclub and places third in a raggamuffin singing contest. The impulse to write and sing begins to look like a path.

He records “Don't Know” for the Pomba Branca project. Social intervention — later a recurring dimension of his work — is present from the beginning.

The release marks Dog Murras' formal entry into recorded music. From here, the voice gains catalogue, audience and territory.

The second album broadens the repertoire, pushes “Aqui Tass” into the spotlight and earns a Silver Record. Dog Murras' own musical language gains both audience and recognition.

On 4 April, “Angola Agora Nova” is released in connection with Angola's Peace and National Reconciliation celebrations. Music meets a defining moment in the country's history.

An album that places Angolan identity, everyday life and social intervention even more clearly at the heart of the work. “Bué Angolano” would be recognised with a Gold Record by Vidisco.

Music, country, social behaviour and identity become increasingly intertwined. “Pátria Nossa” brings a second Gold Record from Vidisco.

A new album, another language and the continuity of a career already crossing Angola, Portugal, Brazil and other stages.

“Angolanidade” gives a name to what had long been central to the work: building a contemporary identity without severing its roots.

The trajectory expands through collaborations and encounters with Brazilian artists, including a connection to the musical universe of the film “Captains of the Sands”.

A retrospective release gathers part of a career that can no longer be understood only as a sequence of albums, but as a cultural presence.

At the University for International Integration of the Afro-Brazilian Lusophony, he joins the roundtable “The dignifying strength of African women”. Music, social activism and public thought increasingly share the same space.

Writing takes on a space of its own. Coherence, responsibility and choice become material for reflection beyond the song.

He collaborates with BaianaSystem and Tropkillaz on “A Mosca” and takes part in the Black Awareness Festival at Teatro Prudential in Rio de Janeiro. Music and cultural presence cross the Atlantic again.

The second book deepens the philosophy of Ubuntu and the idea of collectivity as a way to think about Africa, society and responsibility. Prefaced by Bonga, the book is launched between Lisbon and Luanda.

He is decorated during Angola's 50th Independence Anniversary commemorations in the Peace and Development class — an official recognition of a trajectory linking culture, citizenship and social intervention.

Music, voice, AfroVox and new encounters are part of a phase that does not try to repeat the past. The aim is to turn experience into presence — again.
